Women and Money: Women Earn 15% More Than Men in Crypto
Crypto is an industry where women earn on par or better than men. We spoke with Keren Veldman Hanan to gauge her perspective on how women continually succeed in crypto.
The cryptocurrency field offers not only freedom but also material wealth to its participants and traders. The decentralized nature of the industry shows signs of supporting all different demographics.
Recently Pantera Capital released an analysis that shows women in crypto earn 15% more than men in digital currencies. However, contrary to the numbers, women only add up to 37% of its participants in crypto.
Contrary to crypto, U.S.-based women in non-crypto companies earn 86 cents more than men. According to Pantera Capital, women earn $1.15 for every dollar men earn. We talked to Keren Veldman Hanan, a leader in the Israeli crypto scene for women, to learn how women earn more than men yet the participation is lower than men in the market.
40% of women invest in crypto due to Fear of Missing Out (FOMO). Moreover, over 50% of women in crypto want to increase their wealth.
Women's Investment in Crypto
Don’t expect to see too many women diving into the slaughterhouses of memecoins. Women are known for showing a more conservative approach to crypto investing and hodling.
According to Veldman Hanan, women are good hodlers of crypto.
“When women buy their cryptos, they tend to HODl for a longer time than men, further increasing their chances of acquiring more wealth than men,” she said.
Additionally, she added that the number of women involved in trading is less than the number of women HODling.
According to Pantera Capital’s data, women in crypto tend to be more experienced than men; therefore, they are often offered mid-level entry positions. Contrary to women, men are offered entry-level positions, which leads to lower wages than women in crypto. Moreover, cryptocurrency offers better opportunities to women compared to traditional fields.
Veldman Hanan added that FOMO is also leading to earning more. For instance, 40% of women invest in crypto due to Fear of Missing Out (FOMO). Moreover, over 50% of women in crypto want to increase their wealth.
Gender Gap Difference in Crypto
Despite women earning more than men in cryptocurrency, the gap difference is still huge. Out of 420 million individuals in crypto, 155 million are women, which marks 37%. Karen Veldman believes women are less than men in crypto due to risks and volatility in the crypto market.
“Women are afraid to lose money while investing in crypto; after all, the market is volatile and risky. Additionally, crypto technology is not easily understood, and that is a barrier to women.”
However, Veldman Hanan believes women will bring a unique perspective to the crypto market. She added women don’t just see the quick profits; rather, they see the future.
So what’s next?
Women can bring added creativity and innovations to the industry with their unique perspective. With this intrinsically inclusive approach to the this industry one would expect this to lead to continued growth in the industry.
